On February 11, 2008, Governor Patrick signed Executive Order #497 establishing the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission of Massachusetts. The purpose of the 15 member commission is to organize and coordinate bicentennial tributes to Abraham Lincoln in Massachusetts and his ideals of equality and opportunity through the use of existing resources and the recruitment of volunteers who share a passion for Lincoln.
